“This is the way we brush our teeth, brush our teeth, brush our teeth, this is the way we brush our teeth, so early in the morning”, sang our little bees from Pre-Nursery as they brushed their teeth.
This week our little bees learned about the importance of keeping their little teeth clean. In encouraging them to brush their teeth, our creative bee keepers told them about the ‘teeth monsters’ and the only way to keep them away was to brush and clean their teeth with some water and toothpaste every day.
Buzzing from learning to brush their teeth, they also learned about the type of food that causes tooth decay. Remember to brush your teeth to keep the ‘teeth monsters’ away…
Moving deeper into the hive, we can hear our busy bees in our K2 classes learning the digraphs and blends during their phonics lesson. What are digraphs? What are blends? How are the two different? A digraph is two letters that make just one sound like sh in shell or fish. They can be made up of vowels or consonants.
Blends on the other hand are two or more consonants that blend together but each alphabet can still be heard. For example, the words sk in skirt and cl in clock, you can hear each sound each alphabet makes.
Learning the differences between the two, our little bees from K2 practiced what they learned by sorting picture sticks into the cups according to the digraph sounds. We were definitely buzzing to see them carrying out the activity confidently using their phonetic skills and knowledge.
